This position is for an Experimental Engineer in the Applied Mechanics Static Structures Group. This position will be in the spin test group and will be focused on the following spin test types: burst, overspeed, low cycle fatigue, and high cycle excitation testing. Opportunities will exist to cover other types of tests, including: ballistic impact testing, bird ingestion testing and fan blade off testing. As an active member of several cross-functional problem solving teams, the Applied Mechanics engineer will work closely with engineers and associates of other disciplines such as Structures, Project, Design, and Manufacturing. Duties will include test fixture design and procurement, program and instrumentation planning, coordination of test plans, development of cost and schedule estimates, test execution, data analysis, and formal report writing. The engineer is responsible for fulfilling a mentoring/leadership role for new engineers in the group. The engineer will execute and direct test programs with the assistance of laboratory technicians, hourly stand crew employees, and/or outsource support. The engineer will be committed to EHS compliance and assist in the development of better test techniques and processes using ACE tools. Support of the department's capital equipment team will also be required through identification, purchase and implementation of new test equipment. The engineer will also be required to follow Applied Mechanics Engineering Standard Work and assist with the training/development of laboratory personnel.A minimum of a Bachelor Degree in Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering.
A minimum of a 7+ years of experience in the area of spin testing or rotor dynamics is preferred. Desired experience includes experience in UG design, structural analysis, part definition and fabrication. Strong mechanical background is required.

At times, the demands of the job require an extended work day.
