The Engineer Aircraft Design performs aircraft structural-mechanical modification engineering and participates in the design, development, and integration of aircraft systems and components through engineering analysis, research and design. The Engineer supports the Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) program development and installation and provides sustaining engineering to airline Customers.
Provides structural engineering design for new installation of products onto a variety of airframes. 40%Evaluates structural components of existing installations and recommends product/installation improvements. 10% Develops engineering design and processes for evolving products. 10%Generates engineering installation and fabrication drawings in support of product integration. 10%Creates, review and revise work instruction to transition structural designs into the installation environment. 10%Supports and/or provides structural analyses for current and future aircraft modifications. 10%Supports STC certification efforts for products and installation designs. 10%Required Skills / Qualifications:
B.S. degree in Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering required or minimum of 5 years of experience as aircraft structure design. Minimum of 5 years of experience in the aviation industry working on aircraft structures and systems integrationMinimum of 3 years of engineering experience in supporting aircraft modification projects.Minimum of 2 years of experience in aircraft structures, analysis, and airframe design guidelines for Part 25 aircraftMinimum of 2 years of experience in the certification programs and post delivery modification design to integrate aircraft avionics systems and cabin electronic systemsMinimum of 5 years of experience with original equipment manufacturer (OEM) Documentation, including but not limited to Aircraft Maintenance Manuals (AMM), Illustrated Parts Catalogues (IPC), Wiring Diagram Manuals (WDM), and Structural Repair Manuals (SRM)Minimum of 5 years of experience with Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs) governing aircraft certification and maintenance Preferred Skills / Qualifications:
Experience using AutoCAD preferred
Basic user skill in alternate CAD software is a plus
